The story never made any sense to me, but that didn't stop our Priest from preaching. I was taught that in the beginning of time, after "God" created the earth, he created Adam and Eve. If "God" didn't protect his own son, what will happen to the rest of us?

The Annunaki : Enki & Enlil

In my research, I came across various creation stories that originated from different areas around the planet. They all seem to revolve around a rivalry between two siblings. This is a complex topic that I will summarize and condense so you can understand the birds eye view. I urge you to dig deeper and conduct your own research to better understand the information I am about to explain.

Our DNA seems to have been manipulated in the past by beings that passed themselves off as Gods. In Ancient Sumer, the alien race of 'gods' were known as the Anunnaki. In Greece they were called, 'The Nephilim' or 'The Sons of God'. The gods had their own monarchy with laws of succession similar to our own. The senior gods oversaw the work, while the minor gods built a global empire upon the Earth, with great cities, temples and monuments. Their main duty was to mine for gold, diamonds and other precious metals. It didn't take long for the minor gods to begin complaining about this life. On the brink of a revolt, they demanded Enki to create others to do this work and bear the burden of hard labor.

Ancient texts speak of six attempts at creating humans by combining their DNA with the early Neanderthals on the planet. Enki and his sister Ninharsag, genetically engineered an ape-woman to create a replacement laborer (EVE). After considerable trial and error a suitable hybrid worker was developed. Capable of gene manipulation technology, the Anunnaki implanted the ape-woman's egg into surrogate Anunnaki maidens. Some of these hybrids were moved from Africa to a place the Sumerians called EDIN in Mesopotamia. Some considerable time later, some of the Anunnaki (including royalty) began to mate with human females. Offspring of this union were referred to as Men of Renown or Demigods.
