A few weeks ago I received an email about a special event taking place downtown at an office right on Michigan Avenue. I made my reservations and was immediately emailed my tickets for the night. I left my office at 5pm in Warrenville, and jumped on the expressway headed into the city. Of course i'd be stuck in traffic for the next hour and a half and ultimately arrive at the venue at 8pm. Either way, met some awesome people and was able to network and hand out business cards. Below is a snippet of the email they sent me about the event.
"Hi Panda --
We are always asking ourselves: what makes our community of doers do? We want to know what drives and inspires you; what makes you hustle hardest? What makes you wake up in the morning and keep on grinding?
In an effort to answer these questions, we’re taking it to the streets and on the road; on our #DoersAcrossAmerica tour! We’re traveling to key cities to meet with community members, celebrate local entrepreneurs, and have a blast along the way!
On the evening of August 10th at 6:00PM, we’re having a celebration at the WeWork on S Michigan Ave (332 S Michigan Ave). Join us to socialize, network, and build stronger relationships with your local community of doers and entrepreneurs. We’ll be there to chat, talk business and strategy, and mix and mingle."
I believe everything happens for a reason and it's up to us to either learn the embedded lesson, or be doomed to witness history repeat itself. Even though I arrived late, it was still a success. Here's a snippet of the message from the Community Organizer sent a few days after the gathering Downtown.

As I said during the event, my role is to be your real-life, human connection to the platform. I'd love to chat with you a bit more individually, and get to know you and your business.
